How to design brewing tanks size for brewing different kinds of beer?
In the brewery, the brewmaster usually brewing the beer with 12 plato, the alcohol concentration about 3%-4%. Of course some brewmaster need to brew strong beer, like stout or porter. The alcoho concentration is about 7%-9%.
For 500L beer brewing system:
If we going to brewing the beer with alcohol concentration 7%-9%, the malt:water about 1:3.
The malt is need about 120KG. The spent grain is about 1.8 times weight of malt. Equals about 0.21M3.
Usually the spent grain thickness 30-40mm is better.
If we assume the spent grain thickness 30mm, then we can get:
3.14XR2X0.3=0.21, We know R is about 480mm.
That means the tanks diameter 960mm is OK.
