Classification of sterile filtration
There are two types of sterile filtration systems, namely membrane filtration and deep bed multi-level filtration. We take membrane filtration as the main content to explain.
1. Membrane filtration
Membrane filtration is carried out with the help of particularly fine micropores. According to the different filter elements in the filter, the filter can be divided into three types: component filtration, depth candle filtration and large-area filter candle. It should be noted that under normal circumstances, the membrane filter is generally only used as the last stage of filtration, so that its filtration area can be effectively used.
(1) Component filter
The filters can be made into assemblies and installed in a sealed circular filter system with a diameter of 40cm. In a module filter, many modules are stacked vertically. The 300mm module has a filter area of 1.9m2, and the 400mm module has a filter area of 3.8m2. The distance between the two curved surfaces of each component allows the clear liquid to flow out from the central tube, and the filtration is carried out from the outside to the inside, and there are filter modules with various precisions for selection. The biggest advantage of the filter assembly is its ease of operation.
The component filter has dual functions of mechanical filtration and electrostatic adsorption. Its adsorption efficiency varies according to the flow rate, pH, concentration, impurity size and load of the filtrate. Enterprises should choose to use it according to the use conditions and sterilization requirements. It can be used for coarse filtration and Can be used for fine filtration, the filter particle size range is 0.1~100um.
(2) Depth Candle Diatomite Filter
This kind of filter is similar to the candle type diatomite filter, but the filter element is different. The wick of the depth candle diatomite filter is generally made of nylon 66, polyvinylidene fluoride, ceramic, polypropylene and cellulose film, which has many filter layers. It uses deep filter wicks to filter, and the organization of the filter layer becomes denser from the outside to the inside, forming multiple retention layers and a larger filter area. Multiple depth filter wicks can be installed in the same filter tank.
The filter core is a deep filter core, it has 40 layers, 14mm thick filter particle size range is 0.001~0.1um. Therefore, it can intercept the miscellaneous particles and microorganisms in the beer layer by layer, and can be recoiled and washed with alkali during regeneration. In the early stage of filtration, the depth candle diatomite filter has a low pressure difference, and then the pore size is blocked, the pressure difference rises rapidly, and the flow rate decreases accordingly. This type of filter element is suitable for the last filtration of sterile filtration.
(3) Large area filter element
The filter layers of some candle wicks are folded to improve the filter effect, and multiple folded layers can also be installed alternately. The filtration area of a filter element is 36m2, which is equivalent to 20 ordinary filter elements. Its structure is characterized by double folds, and each filter layer has multi-layer filter media, which has a double-stage filter effect. The filter core has a small pressure difference, a large flow rate, and a long service life. It has extremely high economic value.
